Wildlife Encounters: Intro to Fishing Clinic

June 13, 2023 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

FREE

Do you know an 8-15 year old boy or girl looking to grow their fishing skills and experience? Join us at Gardner Camp for our Introduction to Fishing Clinic. We will teach your beginner about fish species, their ecosystem, fishing code of ethics and safety. Youth will be taught how to set up their own fishing pole and prepare for their fishing outing. They will learn about different types of fishing in addition to discussing what bait/tackle is best for their experience in our area. The kids will test their skills by casting a line into our fishing pond. We will encourage the kids to be hands on with troubleshooting and problem solving while fishing. Catching a fish requires knowledge, skill, and physical ability; All skills that are essential for youth to develop their skills and catch the fishing bug. We hope this event inspires more outdoor exploration for their summer.

No equipment is needed for this event. We have beginner level equipment/tackle available for use. This clinic is for your beginner to learn about fishing and develop excitement about the sport while encouraging outdoor education and activity.

This event is provided in partnership with the Illinois Conservation Foundation. There is no cost and it is open to boys and girls age 8-15. Pre-registration is required and space is limited to 10 youth. Registration will close when limit is met. Register here: https://form.jotform.com/231416233527147
