Wildlife Encounters: Frog Gigging

Frogging season is here! Take a trip to the waters of Gardner Camp to learn how to harvest frogs. Frog identification, safety, equipment, harvest methods, and hunting strategies will be discussed. The event will begin with a frog legs tasting and will include instruction in both the classroom and in the field where participants will be able to practice harvest methods. Frogging equipment is provided. This event is provided in partnership with the Illinois Conservation Foundation. Join us at Gardner Camp to go Frogging July 18th-8:30pm to 11:30pm.

Enrollment is open to youth ages 10-17 who have NOT participated in Gardner Camp’s Frogging program in the past. Participants under age 16 do not require a fishing license.  Please note: Our group size is limited to 6 youth. Enrollment is required and will close when our limit is reached.
