Wildlife Encounters: Duck Banding

Learn all about the most beautiful species of waterfowl in our area. Work with an IDNR biologist to go through the banding process for wood ducks found at Gardner Camp. We will discuss how and why wood ducks are banded, the life cycle of a wood duck and talk about their unique nesting preferences. After this, the group will work hands-on banding ducks on Trester Lake. Snack included. No cost. This event is provided in partnership with the Illinois Conservation Foundation. Age 10+. Pre-registration is required and space is limited to 20 youth. Registration will close when limit is met.
