Our next IDNR Youth Hunter Safety Training Course will be held March 15th (5:30pm-8:30pm) and 16th (9am-4:30pm.) Both dates are required for the completion certificate. This is a required course prior to being issued an IL Hunting License. Taught by IDNR Hunter Safety Education Instructors, this hand-on Course covers the basics of:

• hunter responsibility and ethics
• treestand safety
• firearms and ammunition
• field safety
• first aid
• bowhunting
• muzzleloading
• wildlife conservation and identification
• state regulations

At the end of the second day of instruction, we will be providing basic shooting instruction at the air gun and trap range for any students who want to participate. Shooting exercises are not required for obtaining Hunter Safety Card but is recommended. All ages welcome but youth must be able to pass written exam. Parents must attend with youth under 12. Registration required. No cost. Lunch and refreshments are provided by Gardner Camp.
