Course will be held: Friday, March 21st (5:30pm-8:30pm) and Saturday, March 22nd (9am-4:30pm.) Both dates are required for completion certificate. This is a required course prior to being issued an IL Hunting License. Taught by IDNR Hunter Safety Education Instructors, this hands-on course covers the basics of:

• hunter responsibility and ethics
• treestand safety
• firearms and ammunition
• field safety
• first aid
• bowhunting
• muzzleloading
• wildlife conservation and identification
• state regulations

At the end of the second day of classroom instruction, we will be providing hands-on, basic shooting instruction at the air gun and trap range for any students who want to participate. Shooting exercises are not required for obtaining Hunter Safety Card but is recommended. All ages welcome but youth must be able to pass written exam. Free to attend but ENROLLMENT IS REQUIRED. Lunch on Saturday and refreshments are provided by Gardner Camp.
