PIN OAK FOUNDATION RECEIVES LARGEST GRANT TO DATE FROM ROTARY FOUNDATION OF QUINCY FOR GARDNER CAMP STARLAB

A recent $35,000 donation will show Quincy area students that the sky is the limit when it comes to learning. The Rotary Foundation of Quincy presented the donation to the Pin Oak Foundation to help purchase a digital StarLab Planetarium, a unique learning experience in astronomy for area youth. Gardner Camp, in turn, is the direct beneficiary of this donation.

This donation advances the Rotary’s desire to support opportunities for improving our communities today by investing in the generation of tomorrow. By underwriting the StarLab, Rotarians are also supporting STEM education. (STEM is an acronym for science, technology, engineering and math.) STEM helps students acquire useful skills for making informed, inquiry-based decisions and students to build foundations for success in their futures, regardless of chosen career.

“We are tremendously grateful to the Rotary Foundation of Quincy. This donation allows us to bring a museum-quality planetarium to youth in our community and expand science learning for our schools,” states Amy Lefringhouse, Gardner Camp’s Executive Director.

Rotary Club of Quincy is part of Rotary International, a 110-year-old global network with 1.2 million members who believe “solving real problems takes real commitment and vision.” Rotary’s members are people of action who use their passion, energy and intelligence to take action on sustainable projects, from literacy, to peace, to water and health.
