Through a partnership with Mississippi Valley BSA Council Explorer Post program, twelve youth completed our Hunt Club program for the 2021 year. The youth attended monthly meetings focused on hunting, conservation, and natural resources. Taught by experts, sessions furthered the members’ knowledge and skills in writing their first wildlife management plan, career opportunities in fisheries and conservation law enforcement, training their hunting dogs, how to prepare for bowhunting white-tailed deer, how to prepare harvested game to eat, concealing waterfowl blinds, how to range deer from a deer stand, and what to look for when buying a shotgun. They also had the opportunity to participate in several activities that included shooting our 3-D archery range, shooting trap with shotguns, brushing waterfowl blinds, mushroom hunting, antler shed hunting, shooting air rifles, and touring our wildlife management plots. Members will be hunting at Gardner Camp this fall and winter to complete the circle of learning.
Congratulations to these 2021 Members for completing the program: David Bickhaus, Isaiah Brass, Tripp Flesch, Hannah Griffin, Bodine Marable, Nicholas Moyer, Tanner Mueller, Bodie Rollins, Darby Rollins, Jack Sanders, Carter Speckhart, and Claire Norsworthy.
